Scenario
An author returns to his hometown of Jerusalem's Lot in search of inspiration for his next book, only to find that the townspeople have been attacked by a bloodthirsty vampire. Writer Gary Dauberman told Den of Geek in June 2019 that his goal with the new version of Salem’s Lot was to make vampires scary again. He wants to escape the sexier, more romantic undead that have infected pop culture for the better part of the last quarter century, thanks to everything from Interview with the Vampire to Twilight to The Vampire Diaries… When Ben reads old newspapers on microfilm in the library, the title reads « Local Couple Victims of DUI. » The paper is believed to have been printed in 1956, around the time the term "DUI" not yet in use..
Good action scenes
Sundown Written and performed by Gordon Lightfoot Courtesy of Warner Records By arrangement with Warner Music Group Film & Television Licensing. I haven’t read the book so I can’t compare it to this. I liked the look of the vampires. There was definitely a great atmosphere.
More time to develop those relationships
It had the makings of a good horror movie, I just think it would have done better as a miniseries. We needed more time to get to know these characters better. I think Lewis does a really good acting job with what he’s given, but his character needs more development. His backstory doesn’t play into the story in any way, except in a vague « only the underdogs win » kind of way.
He’s kind of a no-nonsense character
I kind of thought that him being a writer (besides being the obvious Stephen King position) would serve a purpose, maybe him being the one doing the research, but no. The only other thing we know about him is that his parents died when he was a child, and that doesn’t make sense either. Again, at least Louis does a good job with the little he’s given. But like I said, I think a miniseries would be better to spend more time on the characters..
