This one is fairly middle of the road
Scenario
Finding their jovial taxi driver leads them on a remote, haunted road, the pair uncover disturbing motives and his true intentions. British indie horror can be a bit hit and miss at times.
Nick Frost plays his part well
Equal parts disturbing, scared, scary, and even cute. He steals the show for me, even though Synnove Karlsen bet on a decent turn.
The film plays on the classic ghost stories of freeway ghosts and has some scary moments
There’s an interesting angle about how vulnerable we really are in a taxi driven by someone we know nothing about, but that’s not really the purpose of the story, although the depth of Frost’s performance made me think. dark and set in a single night with a significant proportion inside a London cab, there is good use of light.
Overall, though, I thought it was pretty average fare
A couple of jump scares and some creepy exposition, nicely delivered by Frost, give the film just enough atmosphere to keep you hooked. My favorite part was the ending, which is a bit ambiguous and probably open to some interpretation.
