The opening credits sequence features various photographic and painted views, as well as Oklahoma landmarks, superimposed on the New York City landscape: The statue of a Sioux Indian chief named « Touch the Clouds » wearing a War Bonnet and Bone Choker necklace, placed atop the Brooklyn Bridge The statue of the Golden Driller, placed on the Statue of Liberty’s Route 66 Western Gateway Arch, placed on Major Manhattan « Avenue ». In New York City, Manhattan, these are a series of numbered « Avenues » which crisscross smaller numbered streets. Featured on CBS News Sunday Morning: Episode #45.7 (2022).
The Tulsa King delivers
Stallone hits the mark with a thoughtfully nonsensical performance that blends humor and violence to near perfection. The classic fish-out-of-water script is well-acted. And the first episode does a great job of establishing what looks like a star.
Frankly, I was pleasantly surprised
The plot starts to weave together from the very beginning. We’ll see how the season plays out, but so far it’s a great change of pace compared to some of the other series debuts of late. No CGI, to be sure.
Just great characters, authentic dialogue, a smart story, and a first-class cast
