Scenario
Follows Morgan, a single mom of three, as she uses her extraordinary mind to help solve a crime and rearranges evidence during her shift as a cleaner at the police department. series HPI (2021). Despite his very high IQ, excellent memory, and extensive knowledge of the occult, Morgan makes a number of basic legal mistakes that anyone who has ever watched a TV legal show would know not to make. For instance, in the first episode, she retrieves a document from a locked safe at the suspect-victim’s law office that would never be admissible in court—illegally obtained evidence.
admissible in court
Nor could it be used to obtain other evidence, a violation of the « fruit of the poisonous tree » legal doctrine. In Episode 2, she has to be reminded to wear gloves before handling evidence at a crime scene, and in Episode 3, she removes all the documentary evidence from the police station, completely breaking the chain of custody and making everything she removed disappear. HPI remake (2021). This series revolves around Morgan (Kaitlin Olson), a woman who is a night watchman for the LAPD.
They hired her as a consultant
When she looks at the case file, she is intrigued and makes some corrections to the murder board. This leads to the department’s understanding that it has a talent for perceiving, absorbing and systematizing facts, aka evidence. Consider it Will Hunting meets Adrian Monk. Like Will, she has an exceptional IQ and a perceptive mind.
She is also very persistent
Like Monk, she suffers from OCD, though not as neurotically as Monk. But she feels she has to reconcile all the conflicting data (like an itch that needs to be scratched). And while Morgan sometimes feels like she’s on the outside of society, she’s very empathetic. I actually like this series, even though there have been plenty of other police procedurals where a civilian with unusual abilities works with the cops.
Children are also interesting
Morgan’s character is fun to watch. In addition, there are interesting decisions in the cases. She also has three children, so she always has to balance work and home life. In the first episode, her young son actually helps out behind the scenes.
